Copyright & permissions

Original design. Clear permissions. Credited sources.

Who holds the copyright?

Copyright in the original XYARD book design and artwork is owned by Will Xu, trading as XYARD. The short notice “© 2026 XYARD” identifies this brand. XYARD's website and book sales are operated by Baixing Limited. The seller/operator and copyright owner are identified separately; this statement does not transfer rights between them.

What the notice covers

We reserve rights in the original protected design and artwork that we own, including the original visual composition, layouts, illustrations and graphic elements of our books. Other original text or software may carry its own notice or licence. We do not claim ownership of geographical facts, general ideas or methods, third-party raw data or third-party materials. A copyright notice does not itself establish rights in material that is unprotected or owned by others.

Copying, photocopying, printing and sharing

Except as permitted by applicable law or an express licence, you must obtain prior written permission from the copyright owner before reproducing, photocopying, printing, distributing, uploading or sharing our original protected book content, in whole or in part. This applies to commercial and non-commercial copying. Buying or possessing a printed book does not itself grant permission to reproduce it.

A specific written printing licence or permission supplied with an order continues to apply according to its terms. Nothing on this page withdraws existing express permissions or excludes legal exceptions, mandatory consumer rights or third-party licence permissions. These terms do not prohibit ordinary use of a lawfully obtained printed book.

Request written permission

Email xyard.uk@gmail.com with the course, book type, edition, intended use, number of copies, format and recipients. Permission must be confirmed in writing and used within its stated scope. A print shop should obtain the applicable written authorisation before producing copies; possession of a PDF alone is not authorisation.

Third-party raw data and materials

Third-party raw data and materials, including adaptations where applicable, remain governed by their respective rights and licences. Our copyright notice and reproduction restrictions do not override those licences or restrict uses they permit. In particular, we do not claim exclusive ownership of LINZ source data or OpenStreetMap data.

LINZ-hosted data used in the retained books is credited to its named providers and adapted under CC BY 4.0, as recorded for each source. OpenStreetMap data is credited to © OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL. Any applicable derived-database obligations remain in force. Data licences do not automatically license unrelated original XYARD artwork or book layouts.

See Data sources & edition records for supplier credits, source links, retained dates, adaptations and known limitations. The book's visible credits and source QR codes complement that record; they are not replaced by this website.

Other assets and permissions

Fonts, photographs, third-party artwork, software libraries and other materials remain subject to their applicable terms. Do not assume that publication of a sample, source link, tutorial or download grants rights beyond an express licence or applicable law. Any separate licence supplied with a particular asset governs that asset.

Questions, corrections and rights concerns
