Book guide & FAQ
Practical facts about XYARD books, preparation and ordering. Prepared by XYARD from the current product specification and approved sample-source records.
What is the difference between a Yardage Book and a Green Book?
The Yardage Book shows the hole, tee-length references, fairway and hazard context, fixed distance references and a Notes area. The Green Book focuses on mapped green shape, dimensions and terrain reference where supported. Yardage + Green pairs both for the same course.
Which tees and units are standard?
The Yardage Book default is 18 Holes / All Tees / Metres. Published men/women par groups describe the source rating data; they do not restrict who can use a tee. The independent Green Book is 18 Greens / Metres.
What is the physical format?
Finished pages are A6, 105 x 148 mm, with white paper backgrounds. A continuous yardage hole spans two facing A6 pages. The booklet is top-fold saddle stitched, rather than a hardback or glued-spine book.
What do the map samples show?
The Yardage sample is Remuera Golf Club hole 9, Devils Elbow, with primary Blue, White, Green and Red references. The Green sample is Royal Wellington hole 17. They are two separate courses and single-hole previews, not evidence of current stock for every course.
How can I use Remuera hole 9 to prepare?
Compare the tee-length references, study the dogleg and choose a landing area and sensible miss for your own shot pattern. The sample uses 50, 100 and 150 metre rings to a fixed mapped green reference. Record the plan and what happened, then use that observation to shape practice. A printed official hole length and a mapped horizontal distance are different references.
Does the Green Book show exact putting lines?
No. The Royal Wellington 17 sample shows relative elevation on a fixed 0-2 m scale, 0.10 m height lines, a 5 m grid and modelled downhill arrows. Its source DEM is 1 m. Finer display detail does not create putting-grade survey accuracy, and arrows do not prescribe an aim point or ball path.
Can I use it in every competition?
Do not assume so. Check the current event rules and committee restrictions before using green-reading material. A6 page size alone does not establish competition compliance.
Is every listed golf club available?
No. The directory is a selection aid for New Zealand clubs returned by 18-plus-hole filters. We confirm the exact course, route, edition and fulfilment arrangement before payment.
How much do the books and delivery cost?
Prices include GST: Yardage Book NZ$39, Green Book NZ$39, Yardage + Green NZ$59 for the same course. NZ delivery is NZ$4 below NZ$100 in books and free from NZ$100. Requested Pro shop collection has no collection fee if agreed. Custom and group orders are quoted separately.
Can junior golfers use the books?
Yes. The brand is for golfers serious about getting better, including juniors and players of different abilities. Preparation and reflection can be adapted to the player without promising a score improvement.
How do custom and group orders work?
Send the course, book type, quantity, target date and event or branding brief. We agree the specification and quote, then provide artwork for approval before personalised production.
What happens after I submit a request?
Save your private order-status link. XYARD confirms the course edition and fulfilment plan. When online payment is available for the confirmed order, the private page opens Stripe Checkout. Payment is recorded only after verification with Stripe, not merely from a redirect.
Sources and method
The official Remuera course tour provides the published tee-length reference. Map data and terrain sources, licences and limitations are recorded alongside the current map samples. Read the full provider credits. Competition use is governed by the event and the current Rules of Golf and local rules.
